Axiom expansion leads to move to larger location

Tamworth based Axiom has doubled its workshop and office capacity – but it hasn’t had to move far. A larger facility became available on the Darwell Industrial Park where Axiom has been based for the last 14 years and the company has relocated just around the corner.

The move comes as a result of Axiom’s continued growth in the materials handling market in spite of the difficulties of the last year. With a doubled-in-size workshop, two floors of spacious open plan offices, a dedicated 3D printing department and increased storage provision, Axiom can now offer its customers an improved service, keeping projects on track and in budget.

Advantages of increased workshop capacity

The space to build more projects and the ability to carry additional items in stock will be advantageous to both Axiom and its customers. Buying materials in bulk helps to keep prices competitive and carrying more spares makes the company less dependent on manufacturers’ lead-times.

The capability to build a number of systems at once will enable Axiom to both expand its workload and offer a faster turnaround of projects.

Axiom’s new 3D printing department now boasts four 3D printers which are constantly in use for the economic in-house manufacture of small parts. A special wash and dry area is used to finish the parts before assembly.

Factory Acceptance Testing saves time and money

The additional workshop space will enable the Axiom team to routinely conduct Factory Acceptance Tests on projects before they leave the company workshop. Running these comprehensive tests on a materials handling system prior to delivery not only identifies any potential issues that require rectification, but also ensures a smooth installation and commissioning on site.

A new member of the team

Along with the relocation, the company has increased its workforce by recruiting a new engineer into the Axiom team.

Chris Sadler is an experienced design engineer who is working on specialised design tasks. He will be working alongside David Cortes, who joined us in 2019 to head up the electrical design department.

Investing to achieve service excellence

Matthew Nickson, director of Axiom GB comments, “We’d outgrown our existing premises and investing in a larger property is part of our business strategy for continued growth and development.

“Axiom already has a reputation for providing high quality materials handling solutions and the combination of our new facilities, skilled workforce and high-tech equipment will enable us to provide even higher levels of service for our customers.”
